Bowstring Truss Bridge


The cement arch bridge crosses the Salamonie River in Portland. The only concrete bowstring truss bridge in Indiana, it was built in 1913 and restored in 1998.

This great display is a tribute to the King himself.  Featuring memorabilia of the era, and costumes, props, jewelry and much more from award winning tribute artist.  The museum also host the infamous Jungle Set Furniture that Elvis picked out himself.  Also featuring a beautiful wall mural of Graceland a great spot for a photo.  A boutique for shopping is also in the museum-with shirts, sunglasses, jewelry, bags and more.

Take a stroll back in time; learn some history of Henry Ford and the making of the Tin Lizzie. You will see automobiles from the Model A to the Delorian, and refresh yourself of times gone by. Over 30 different types of vintage automobiles and a whole lot of information and some unusual displays will put a smile on your face and warm your heart.

 

Underground Railroad Cabin

Pennville
This historic site is linked to the novel Uncle Tom's Cabin. Tradition says Eliza Harris rested here in her flight to Canada.

The Glass Museum

The museum features over 5,000 pieces of glass, tools, and exhibits that tell the history of glass manufacturing in East Central Indiana.

Built in 1926 as a state-of-the-art department store, the Weiler Building has long been the anchor for Portland’s downtown. Renovated and is now the John Jay Center for Learning. The Historic Landmarks of Indiana Foundation presented the The Cook Cup for Outstanding Restoration of an Indiana Landmark award to the Jay County group for turning the vacant and dilapidated former store into a state-of-the-art educational and community center.
