History
Visit Jay County and learn the history of the dome paintings in the court house. The court house was built from 1916 to 1919. Constructed of limestone and marble, the building has 104 windows and four sets of brass doors.  See if you can find the fox in the marble. It is one of the most beautiful court houses in the state of Indiana. Jay County had the first successful natural gas well in the state. The abundance of gas ushered in the glass industry. The wells sent flames forty feet high. Small torches were set in place and the entire town was lighted day and night. The light could be seen for miles.
